Data Retention Policy
This Data Retention Policy explains how long Dogma Studios retains your personal information and content when you use Alcove’s services. This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
1. General Principles
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including to satisfy any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. To determine the appropriate retention period, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure, the purposes for which we process the information, and applicable legal requirements.
2. Account Information
We retain your account information (such as your username, email address, phone number, and birthday) for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your account information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes.
If you disable (rather than delete) your account, we retain your account information so that you can reactivate your account at a later time.
3. Messages and Content
Messages, feed posts, comments, and other content you create on Alcove are retained for as long as the relevant Room or conversation exists, unless you delete them. When you delete a message or piece of content, we remove it from our active systems promptly. However, residual copies may remain in our backup systems for a limited period (typically no more than 90 days) before they are permanently deleted.
If a Room owner deletes a Room, all content within that Room is deleted in accordance with the same backup retention schedule described above.
4. Voice and Video
We do not store the contents of voice or video calls. Temporary data necessary to facilitate real-time communication (such as connection metadata) is discarded promptly after the call ends.
5. Usage and Device Information
Log data, device information, and other usage analytics are generally retained for up to 180 days, after which they are aggregated or deleted. Some information may be retained longer if required for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance purposes.
6. Payment Information
Transaction records, including limited billing information, are retained for as long as required by applicable tax and financial reporting laws (typically 7 years in the United States). Full payment card details are handled by our third-party payment processor and are not stored on our systems.
7. Safety and Enforcement
Information related to safety investigations, enforcement actions, and reports of violations may be retained for as long as necessary to protect the safety of our users and to comply with legal obligations. This includes information about accounts that have been suspended or banned, which we may retain indefinitely to prevent the user from evading enforcement.
8. Legal Obligations
Regardless of the retention periods described above, we may retain certain information for longer periods where required by law, regulation, or legal proceedings, or where necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
9. Data Deletion Requests
You can request deletion of your personal information by deleting your Alcove account through your account settings, or by contacting us at privacy@alcove.gg. We will process your request in accordance with applicable law and this policy.
Please note that some information may be retained after deletion as described in the sections above (e.g., backup retention, legal obligations, safety enforcement).
